GUIDELINES

  1. Invitation letters always have a positive and upbeat tone. Your language should be appropriate in the case of a formal occasion. For informal occasions, you can use funny phrases, a nice theme or poetry. But mention all the details clearly.
  2. Invite the readers and provide all the necessary details, including the name of the occasion, date, time, and place. If it's a particular event which honors someone or celebrates an anniversary, then state the purpose of this event.
  3. If there is no need to bring gifts, mention that. For instance, a gift is not expected in an anniversary, reception or a retirement. If the occasion welcomes gifts, don't say anything, except in the case of bridal or baby showers.
  4. Mention a dress code, if you have decided a theme or if the occasion demands it.
  5. Tell the readers that you expect them to attend the event. Ask them to respond to this invitation.

Dear [Recipients Name],

It's street party time for Willowhill residents! So everyone, make sure to join in on the fun! The party comes to live at Fulton St. corner Wilson Avenue this coming May 22 at six p.m. till we drop! There are a lot of newcomers in the neighborhood, so let us be together in giving them the grandest welcoming treat.

Steve Ashton will be our host for that night, so you can be sure that there will never be a dull moment.

So please do plan on coming. Just call Eve at 1234567 to confirm your attendance and sign up for your preferred party committee. Till then!
