Carbon copy is used if the correspondence is going to more than one person.

ENC

The enclosure is used if you include additional papers with the original letter.

PP

Per Procurationem, you are signing the letter for someone else as they are unavailable to sign it themselves. This is a Latin term.

 

 

PS

=

 

Postscript means you have a thought you want to add at the end of the letter. You are usually written after the signature beginning on the left-hand side as in the body of the letter.

PTO

=

 

Please turn it over. This informal abbreviation lets the reader know there is a continuation of the letter on the backside of the paper.
