GUIDELINES

  1. Do not forget to thank constantly a person who allowed you to use his or her name or who wrote a reference letter for you. Your message does not only convey that you are thankful. But it will also help you when you need help again in the future when you need it.
  2. Tell the reader the development on your job application, especially if his or her recommendation was helpful.
  3. Tell him or her that you are grateful for his or her help. If you are not sure if the person wrote the recommendation letter or not, do not mention it in the letter.
  4. If you prefer to, give him or her some courtesy in return, but careful not to put him or her in shame.

Dear [Recipients Name],

It is with gratitude that I write to thank you for providing a letter of recommendation for me. Your kind comments have led the way to some different interviews, which has resulted in an offer of a position with the Jackson Corporation. You know that it has long been a dream of mine to work for Jackson's. The time that you spent on the letter is much appreciated and know that if there is anything I can do in return you have but to ask.

Sincerely,

Thank You Letters

Thank-you letters are letters written to politely acknowledge a gift, service, compliment or an offer. Simply put, these are letters you write to express your gratitude and appreciation for someone's thoughtful actions. You can send a thank-you letter after personal events, an interview, networking events, after receiving a gift or donation, etc. A thank-you letter is always special in that it lets the recipient know that what he/she did was greatly valued and appreciated. The letter should be sent promptly and when the events are still fresh so that it can be more meaningful.

Thank-you letters should be warm, personal, and sincere. Begin with the two magical words "Thank you," and address the recipient in a way that feels most natural. Be clear about what you are thanking the person for. Let the recipient know why his/her specific gift or actions are cherished and why they are important to you. Inquire after the recipient's well-being and share some information about your life. Let him/her know that you are thinking about him/her and mention the next time you may want to meet. To wrap things up, thank the recipient again and let him/her know that you value his/her friendship.

Letters to Business Partners

Letters to business partners are letters you write to people with whom you have some degree of involvement with their business dealings. A business partnership is a legal relationship formed when two or more people agree to run a business together are co-owners. When you make such a partnership, you need to write a letter to your business partners to convey your message clearly and strongly, and to keep a legal record of the partnership. The letter should be formal and must contain the partnership offer, names of all the business partners, and the terms and conditions of the partnership.

Letters to business partners should be written with a professional tone. They should conform to all the accepted business letters standards. State the purpose of the letter. Give all the necessary details regarding the partnership as outlined in the contract. Include the name and title of the recipient. Employ the appropriate formal salutations and closings. State the date clearly and mention any document that is enclosed with the letter. Close the letter on a positive note and sign it off with your name and title. Letters to business partners should be printed on the company's letterhead.
