GUIDELINES

  1. Getting credit involves a rigorous process. Sometimes the creditor rejects an application. That's because someone makes a mistake in evaluating an applicant's qualifications. Sometimes the lender can't explain the reason to turn down the application. If that's the case with you, this letter will help you get a clear answer. It may also get you reconsidered for the credit.
  2. Accept the fact that your application was not accepted.
  3. Request a proper explanation for the denial.
  4. If you think that there might be some error in getting the right information to the creditor, then you should mention it.
  5. Request the creditor to review your application again.

Dear [Recipients Name],

I was recently informed that my credit card application was denied because of lack of employment. I think this is strange because I am self-employed. In fact, I have even submitted the necessary papers about my business, as well as information on my income. Could you please check again and let me know if there has been some mistake? Perhaps when this is clarified, we can look at the possibility of reconsidering my application. Thank you very much!

Sincerely,
