Dear [Recipients Name],

Many thanks to everyone who made our fundraising event such an overwhelming success. Your hard work and the money raised means that more wells can be dug throughout Central Africa. We raised enough money for five entirely new projects to be started and completed, and this will mean fresh, clean water for thousands of people.

The generosity of our donors has been matched by the York Water Company, who are sending out trained individuals to assist with our work.

Your work has not gone unrewarded either, and the local movie theater has donated two free tickets for each of you. I would like to add my thanks to each one of you, and without you, none of this would be possible.

Sincerely,

Thank You Letters

Thank-you letters are letters written to politely acknowledge a gift, service, compliment or an offer. Simply put, these are letters you write to express your gratitude and appreciation for someone's thoughtful actions. You can send a thank-you letter after personal events, an interview, networking events, after receiving a gift or donation, etc. A thank-you letter is always special in that it lets the recipient know that what he/she did was greatly valued and appreciated. The letter should be sent promptly and when the events are still fresh so that it can be more meaningful.

Thank-you letters should be warm, personal, and sincere. Begin with the two magical words "Thank you," and address the recipient in a way that feels most natural. Be clear about what you are thanking the person for. Let the recipient know why his/her specific gift or actions are cherished and why they are important to you. Inquire after the recipient's well-being and share some information about your life. Let him/her know that you are thinking about him/her and mention the next time you may want to meet. To wrap things up, thank the recipient again and let him/her know that you value his/her friendship.

Letters to Volunteers

Letters to volunteers are letters written to people who freely offer to undertake a task or take part in an enterprise. The recipient of such letters can be any person who wishes to contribute his/her effort, time, or even money for a cause without expecting anything in return. Letters calling for volunteers need to be concise, clear, and to the point. Your letter is unlikely to hold a volunteer's attention if it is six pages long with every detail about the work or event. It is, therefore, advisable to include only the details the recipient needs to decide whether to pitch in or not.

Letters to volunteers should be formal and must follow the normal business letter format. Begin your letter by thanking the recipient for his/her continued support. State the reason you need the recipient's services or contribution and the cause your work will be supporting. If you are running an event, mention what it entails and when it will take place. Describe the kind of commitment you are looking for; whether you just require help for one day or need an ongoing commitment. Provide your contact details and close by thanking the recipient for his/her time.
