Dear [Recipients Name],

This letter is to verify that Francis Day, who has recently set up his business, ABC Consulting Inc., has been residing in one of my apartments in No. 7 Woodgrove Avenue from 20 January 2004 to the present. He has been living there along with his wife, Sheena H. Day, and their two young children.

Mr. Day and his family have been excellent tenants. I have had no problems with them about noise or damages to property. They also have been very punctual in their payments.

The other tenants in the building are also very fond of the Days.

If you have any more questions about Francis Day and his family, please contact me at 555-5555.

Sincerely,

Further things to consider when writing referral letters to landlords

Referral Letters

Referral letters are letters written to recommend someone for a job, review, consultation, or further action. Such letters are common in job application and can really help you stand out from the rest of the applicants and get noticed by potential employers. Hiring managers are more likely to look closely at applicants whom they share a mutual contact with. A referral can be a personal or business connection. He/she can be a friend, colleague, or an employee of the company in which you are interested. A good referral letter can help you secure an interview or job recommendation.

When writing referral letters, you need to know the people you are recommending well enough to bring the best of their skills, achievements, and character. State why the recipient should be interested in the candidate and how the candidate stands out. List the candidate's exceptional skills and qualities especially those that are specific to the position he/she is interested in, giving relevant examples. Write only complimentary but factual observations and avoid giving biased or insincere praise. Emphasize the key points that you want the recipient to note on the candidate's application. Close the letter with a positive call to action.

Letters to Landlords

Letters to landlords are letters written to people who rent lands, buildings, or apartments to tenants. Whether you need repairs, raise a complaint, move out, or add a roommate, it is important to put it in writing. It provides proof that you have requested something or taken some action. Even if you are currently friends with your landlord and resolve your issues informally, you may need evidence of your communication or other requests some day. A letter to your landlord may spur him/her into action and will keep both of you within the law.

Letters to landlords can be formal or informal depending on your relationship with the recipients. Address the recipient by his/her name and use the appropriate salutation. If you are not sure about the name and address of the recipient, confirm with the lease agreement. State the purpose of your letter so that the recipient can have an idea on how to respond, if he/she needs to respond at all. Include important details such as dates, apartment or house number, etc. Finish with a call to action and sign the letter to make it official. Make a copy of the letter for yourself before sending it.
