  1. While writing a letter to the organization to which you are sending a donation, include any information you would like them to know. This information can include details like you have sent the gift in recognition of someone or how you would like them to use it. You can also mention some special requests, such as you want them to add you to their contacts. But it is appropriate to keep it brief.
  2. Tell the reader why you are sending a donation, especially if you are not sending in direct response to a request.
  3. State the amount of the gift.
  4. Mention any restrictions on how they should use it.
  5. Tell the reader whether you want recognition or not.
  6. Express appreciation for the work of the organization. Wish them success for their efforts or restate the reason for sending the gift.
